Environment
The arctic fox will be found in the Arctic tundra where the environment reaches temperatures as low as -50°C, the tundra is treeless and can be found across the arctic, the climate is cold and windy and the rainfall is scant. the tundra is covered in snow most of the year however during summer wildflowers emerge from the ground and the snow fades.

Body and Fur
The fox is compact and small with short legs short ear and dense foot pads, this means that there is less surface area that is exposed to the cold, and less heat escapes the body. the fox has a good supply of body fat to keep them warm in the cold.
The coat of the Arctic fox is thick and warm, this to able the fox to survive in the freezing cold temperatures of the winter months. They also have thick fur on the pads of their feet which helps to protect their feet from freezing while walking through the snow and also helps the fox to walk on the ice without slipping. When the fox has to sleep in the harsh snow and winds it will can curl up in and cover its nose and face with its bushy tail to keep itself warm. The fur is quite oily which make it quite waterproof and will help to keep the fox dry and aids to trap in heat
